A story of loss
I R I S goddess of the rainbow and messenger between Heaven & Earth. This was a tough one to create and an even harder one to write about. Upon losing my elder cat Sadie this August, my steadfast best friend and judgement free nap companion when chronic illness forces me into bedrest, and with so much deep loss already, the past few months have been profoundly unbearable.
 
This was the first design I created following her death. The process took a lot of reincarnations before it came together as the finished piece you see now. It’s interesting how Iris popped into my work after dear Sadie crossed a bridge of her making; the rainbow bridge.
 
It may not be conventional mourning jewelry, but this design represents a similar message of rainbows in the darkness. Light where there’s no path ahead. Color when life is monochromatic, and the vibrancy of life against the contrast of death. Iris is said to have golden wings as depicted by the wing motif and heart shaped droplets to represent tears shed in grief. A bright blue crystal at the top of her design signifying Sadie’s Siamese blue third eye looking out for the wearer, matching the blue silken bag that holds her remains.

This soft design is for color magic and the grieving/healing. Those who see and carry light with them wherever they may freely wander. I've also designed this piece to be ideal for light ritual or magic that may involve healing or softness to the conjurer during wear.
